Looking for a fun way to immerse yourself in history? Come and discover the picturesque Lichtenberg castle and its many attractions! Built in the 13th century, this edifice has seen many upheavals. Erected as a fortress to guard the border with the kingdom of France, it was destroyed during the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. It wasn’t until the 1990s that a restoration program was launched. From its ruins, situated at an altitude of 400 metres, you can contemplate an exceptional panorama. A splendid view over the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park.
The public can take advantage of the castle’s many facilities. These include exhibition areas, a discovery trail and information panels. The building can be visited in a variety of formats (self-guided, guided, adapted, educational). Special events are also organized on certain occasions (Easter, Halloween) or according to particular themes (medieval festival).
